Personal Protective Equipment Personal protective equipment (PPE), for the head, ears, eyes, face, hands, and legs are designed to prevent or lessen the severity of injuries to loggers. Click on the equipment for a description.  Highlights of PPE Requirements PPE must be inspected prior to use on each work shift to ensure it is in serviceable condition (1910.266(d)(1)(i-ii)). The following PPE must be used when hazards make it necessary (1910.266(d)(1)(iii-vii)). Except for foot protection, all PPE must be provided by the employer at no cost to the employee. Head Protection Hearing Protection Eye/Face Protection Leg Protection Foot Protection Hand Protection You need protection from head to toe.
