OSHA TO AWARD READING, PA COMPANY WITH HIGHEST HONOR
The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will officially welcome Lucent Technologies' Microelectronics Group into its prestigious STAR Voluntary Protection Program at a special flag and certificate ceremony being held on Thurs., Oct. 12, 2000.
The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the company's facility, 2425 North 12th Street, Reading, Pa. Marie Cassady, deputy regional administrator for OSHA, will make the presentation. Other officials scheduled to attend include: John O'Sullivan, corporate representative, Lucent Technologies; State Representative Dante Santoni, Jr.; State Senator Michael O'Pake and U.S. Congressman Tim Holden.
The Microelectronics Group is a communications manufacturing operation. The company is noted for having a three-year injury/illness rate and lost workday incidence rate five and 30 percent below the national average respectively.
The STAR program, designed for worksites with comprehensive, successful safety and health programs, is open to any industry, and to companies with injury rates at or below the industry's national average.
