US Labor Department's OSHA renews alliance with T&T Staff Management
Inc. in El Paso, Texas, to promote worker safety and health
EL PASO, Texas – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has renewed its 2004 alliance with T&T Staff Management Inc., in El Paso, to continue a collaborative relationship that aims to keep workers safe and healthy on the job. The alliance's goal is to increase access to material and knowledge that aims to promote understanding of the workplace safety and health rights and responsibilities of workers and employers.
As part of the alliance, T&T Staff Management will develop training and education programs for workers employed throughout El Paso in the general and construction industries. Some of the safety and health issues covered include falls from elevated work surfaces, electrocution, heat illness, exposure to hazardous chemicals, struck-by and caught-in or between hazards.
"By recommitting to our collaborative efforts, we strengthen our ability to promote workplace safety and health," said Joann Figueroa, OSHA's area director in El Paso. "We are delighted that our joint forces will help save lives, prevent injuries and raise awareness in these industries and in the El Paso community."
The ceremony was held at the T&T Staff Management's office in El Paso. The alliance was signed by Figueroa and Thad Steele, president of T&T Staff Management Inc.
Through the Alliance Program, OSHA works with unions, consulates, trade and professional organizations, faith- and community-based organizations, businesses and educational institutions to prevent workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses. The purpose of each alliance is to develop compliance assistance tools and resources and to educate workers and employers about their rights and responsibilities.
