The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is co-sponsoring the free event with the Hudson Valley and Metropolitan chapters of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the Construction Industry Council of Westchester and Hudson Valley Inc. Among the fair's highlights:
  • Safety and health workshops in English and Spanish on chemical and electrical hazards; scaffolding; falls; trenching; machine guarding; fire safety and emergency preparedness; traffic safety; landscaping hazards; work with tools and powered equipment; personal protective equipment; and rights and protections for employees, young workers and employers.

  • Live demonstrations and information booths on electrical hazards; home fires; fire extinguisher use; bicycle safety; seatbelt safety; response to hazardous chemical spills; car rollover and seatbelt simulators.

  • Health agencies will provide free health screenings for diabetes, HIV, glaucoma and other health issues. Fair participants also will have the opportunity to check their blood pressure, heart and breathing, cholesterol, BMI/Weight and eyes so they can become more aware of the importance of prevention and early detection of health issues.
