BOSTON, Mass. -- A seminar to help Massachusetts subcontractors pre-qualify to bid on jobs has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 29 at Quinsigamond College in Worcester.
The seminar is sponsored by the U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts (ASM) and the Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety, Consultation Program as part of their ongoing safety alliance.
Most general contractors and private owners now require construction subcontractors to be pre-qualified before they can bid on jobs. Pre-qualification includes knowledge of workplace safety, insurance and risk management issues.
Workplace safety and insurance experts from government and business, including OSHA, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Acadia Insurance, Eastern Insurance, Applegate Associates and Chapman Roofing will make presentations at the seminar.
Topics will include OSHA record-keeping; calculating injury and illness rates; safety training requirements; trade and job hazard analysis; insurance coverage; workers compensation; private and public sector contract requirements and multi-employer jobsite rules.
The seminar will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with registration at 7:30 a.m. The fee is $50 per person, to offset conference costs. To register call ASM at (617) 742-3412 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Registration forms and additional information are available online at www.associatedsubs.com.
