Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards due to defective safety latches as to; a)On or about December 7, 2010 on the first floor, the silica super sack 2 ton JET hoists had defective safety latches. THE COOPER TIRE & RUBBER CO. WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 5(a)(1) WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 311608830 CITATION NUMBER 01, ITEM NUMBER 002, ISSUED ON 7/6/09, WITH A FINAL ORDER DATE OF 7/29/06, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 701 LIMA AVE, FINDLAY, OH. Among others, one feasible and useful abatement method to correct these hazards is to follow the requirements in ASME B30.10-2009 "Hooks".
