Summary Nr: 200270668Event: 10/21/1999Employee Killed When Crushed In Grain Elevator Conveyor
Employee #1 was working in the draw belt area of a grain elevator when he became caught in the shear point created by the conveyor support, the conveyor lid, and the belt conveyor. He died of asphyxia. The shear point was not guarded, allowing workers to be exposed to the hazard created by the equipment.
