Accident Investigation Summary
Summary Nr: 140041.015 Event: 08/22/2021Employee With Covid-19 Infection Dies
An employee was working as a Border Control Agent. The employee's duties include d feeding, transporting and transferring detained persons at a Central Processin g Center's various facilities. The employee was in close contact for periods lon ger than 15 minutes with COVID-19 positive individuals who crossed the border in to the country with unknown medical status. Though it was confirmed the employee wore an N95 respirator, detainees were not always compliant with wearing surgic al masks provided. The employee tested positive for COVID-19 on August 18, 2021, was hospitalized for treatment at 8:00 a.m. on August 22, 2021 and died on Sep tember 26, 2021.
