Summary Nr: 135501.015 Event: 05/10/2021Employee With Covid-19 Infection Dies
An employee was a janitor providing cleaning services in the office area of a bu ilding. Half way through his shift, human resources approached him concerning th at he was possibly exhibiting of symptoms of COVID and sent him home to get test ed. Two days later the employee was checked into a hospital for COVID-19. The em ployer had one confirmed case of COVID-19, and the employee was out on quarantin e. The employee worked an off-shift with no interaction with other employees fro m 4 a.m. - 8 a.m. and had very minimal contact with staff from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The employee did not work with or have any contact with the quarantined employ ee. The employer had all COVID-19 protocols in place per the emergency temporary standard and was conducting its own contact tracing. The employee died of COV ID-19 at 11:30 a.m. on May 10, 2021.
