Summary Nr: 133143.015 Event: 02/01/2021One Employee With Covid-19 Infection Dies And Another Is Hos
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on February 1, 2021, Employee #1 was working as a Cen ter Director for the clinic along with a coworker and Employee #2. All three em ployees worked together at the clinic from January 12 - 15. The coworker and E mployee #2 worked together on January 18. Employees #1 and #2 worked together f rom January 20 - 21. The employees were required to quarantine after positive te sts. Employee #1's position was reported by the employer to not have direct pati ent contact as a normal duty. Employee #1 was reported to have her own office, normally conducts computer/phone-related business. In addition, Employee #1 ha d direct and/or prolonged contact with clinic personnel. In January 2021, the me dical center had a COVID-19 outbreak among coworkers. A coworker tested positiv e for the virus that causes COVID-19 on or about January 18, 2021. The coworker 's illness was not determined to be work-related. The employer deemed the cowor ker's illness was not work-related following contact tracing and risk assessment s. Employee #1 died on February 1, 2021. Employee #2 was hospitalized and trea ted for COVID-19 related illness.
