Summary Nr: 131012.015 Event: 09/14/2020Employee With Covid-19 Infection Dies
On September 14, 2020, an employee who had worked as a full-time Registered Nurs e (RN) died of COVID-19 infection. The employee had worked the night shift at a regional hospital on the Venous Access Team, specializing in locating patient's veins and inserting IVs and pic lines. Hospital services included treating patie nts who were symptomatic for COVID-19. The employee worked throughout the hospit al including the hot floors, ICU unit, and was involved in providing healthcare to COVID-19 positive patients and persons under investigation for COVID-19 infec tion. The employee was placed off work on August 22, 2020, after experiencing br eathing difficulty, including shortness of breath. The employee was tested for C OVID-19 on August 23, 2020 and was confirmed positive on August 24, 2020.
