Summary Nr: 128277.015 Event: 04/26/2020Employee With Covid-19 Infection Dies
At 4:00 a.m. on April 26, 2020, Employee #1 worked with a coworker to provide as sistance to an blind, intellectually challenged resident. Employee #1 and a cowo rker worked with the resident Monday through Friday between the hours of 3 pm-11 pm--this included administering medication, conducting G-tube feedings, providi ng meals, and ensuring that the resident remained calm and safe. Employees worki ng directly with the resident, who was classified as health sensitive, were issu ed and required to wear cloth masks in the beginning of April. When the resident became ill in mid-April, Employee #1 and the coworker transported the resident to have COVID-19 testing and chest x-rays conducted. The coworker indicated that Employee #1 appeared ill and was coughing profusely on the day of transport. Em ployee #1 called out of work the next day due to feeling fatigued and a schedule d telehealth appointment with his primary care physician. Employee #1 was infect ed with COVID-19 and later died to the illness.
