Accident Investigation Summary
Summary Nr: 125513.015 Event: 04/13/2020Employee With Covid-19 Infection Dies
An employee was primarily responsible for staff scheduling but when necessary sh e would fill in at the nurses station, stock supplies, and change out resident o xygen tubes. While working the week of March 16 -20, 2020, the employee exhibite d signs and symptoms of illness including coughing, congestion, and difficulty b reathing resulting in her leaving early on two of her scheduled work days. The e mployee's last day of work was March 20, 2020. The employee called in sick on Ma rch 23, 2020, and tested positive for COVID-19 on March 29, 2020. The employee d ied at 11:10 p.m. on April 13, 2020, due to complications associated with COVID- 19 pneumonia - suspected cardiopulmonary arrest due to worsening acute respirato ry distress syndrome and hypoxemia.
