Summary Nr: 118253.015 Event: 12/21/2018Employee Partially Amputates Fingers In Extruder Machine
At 12:15 p.m. on December 21, 2018, an employee was cleaning an extruder machine . The employee had finished the production for the day and started cleaning the inside of the extruder machine with a rag while the machine was powered and in m otion. During the cleaning process, the employee did not de-energize the equipme nt. The employee's left hand was caught by moving parts of the machine. The empl oyee was hospitalized as a result of compound fractures and partial amputation o f the left index, middle and ring fingers.
