At 8:00 a.m. on April 20, 2018, an employee was operating the SMETCO pallet sort ing system and was inspecting pallets when the stack straightener stopped workin g. The employee placed his body between the stacked pallets and straightener, t riggered the photo eye, and the walls started to move, crushing the employee. T he employee was hospitalized with broken ribs, hips, and several loose teeth.
