Summary Nr: 106218.015 Event: 05/30/2018Employee Trips And Falls, Fracturing Nose
At 7:30 a.m. on May 30, 2018, Employee #1 was working with a forklift operator t o locate a suitable railroad tie for a customer from a stack of railroad ties in front of the store. They removed five to six ties from the stack to show the cu stomer, but the customer did not like any of those. While the forklift operator stayed on the equipment, the employee walked around the stack to locate another tie. He tripped over one of the railroad ties and fell, hitting his face on the ground. The employee suffered facial injuries and a broken nose. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was hospitalized for approximately 36 hours.
