Summary Nr: 104717.015Event: 03/14/2018Employee Amputates Fingertip On Meat Band Saw Blade
At 12:30 p.m. on March 14, 2018, Employee #1, a meat cutter, was cutting a small flat piece of meat (pork neck). The employee was using a Biro brand meat band saw, which is equipped with a pusher plate to be used when cutting small pieces of meat. As he pushed the pork neck into the blade of the saw, without using the pusher plate, his right pinky finger came in contact with the blade and amputated his fingertip. Employee #1 was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
