Accident Investigation Summary
Summary Nr: 104478.015Event: 04/02/2018Employee Fractures Legs When Struck By Scissor Lift
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on April 2, 2018, an employee was working for a firm that rented, sold, and serviced aerial lifts. He was at the firm's facility in Morgan Hill, CA. He was unloading an MEC Aerial Lift scissor lift, with Serial Number 11101269 from a delivery trailer. In this procedure, a worker operated the scissor lift from a pendant control while standing next to the lift. As the employee was doing this, he inadvertently drove the scissor lift in the reverse direction instead of the forward direction. At the time, he was standing to the rear of the scissor lift. He was pinned between the scissor lift and a rise in the trailer deck. He sustained fractures in both legs. He was hospitalized.
