Accident Investigation Summary
Summary Nr: 99900.015Event: 10/07/2017Employee Is Found Dead By Drowning
At 6:00 p.m. on October 7, 2017, an employee had worked his normal shift and then was assigned to stay and tend to the vessel overnight due to the anticipated weather conditions related to Hurricane Nate. The employee left the vessel for an extended time. While gone, the employee made multiple calls and reported his status to the Captain on duty. While conducting a walk around of the vessel, the Captain found the employee floating in the water between the bow of the vessel and dock/shore. There are no witnesses to what the employee was doing just prior to him being found in the water.
