On June 23, 2005, an employee, a laborer, was cutting a piece of wood referred to as a door stop. This piece of wood was approximately 2.5-in.-wide by 32-in.-long. The employee stated that the piece of wood jammed against the table saw guard that he was using to rip the piece of wood to its proper width. He reached to the guard and raised it so the piece would go through the saw. He was not sure how it happened, but his right hand contacted the saw blade and cut his right middle finger.
