Summary Nr: 201101433 Event: 01/07/2000Employee Falls After Trench Edge Breaks Away
Employee #1 worked for an electrical contractor as a journeyman electrician. Employee #1 was walking at the edge of a 4 ft deep excavation when a portion of the edge gave way causing him to fall into the excavation. The excavation did not cave-in. The edge at the top for a few inches broke away causing Employee #1 to lose his balance. He fractured his left knee in the fall and was hospitalized.
