Accident Investigation Summary
Summary Nr: 170089635Event: 09/06/1993One Employee Killed, Another Injured During Vehicle Accident
Employees #1 and #2 were patrolling land on the Stimson Lumber Company's property looking for access roads to be used during a forest fire. They were traveling down a road when the road surface gave way, causing the vehicle to roll sideways down a 70 to 80 percent slope. The vehicle landed on the road below and caught on fire. Employee #2 pulled Employee #1 from the truck. Employee #1 died from severe head trauma. Employee #2 sustained a broken jaw and severe burns to his hand, and lost the tip of one finger. Life Flight was called to the scene.
