At 8:30 a. m. on December 16, 2014, Employee #1, a railroad worker, climbed into the top third level (C-deck) of a Tri-level Auto-rack railcar #700G96, to check and verify the tire securement of a yellow Chevrolet Camaro. He checked the cho ck and straps of the car, to see if they were removed. After the employee went a round to the front of the car, he moved backwards and fell from the C-deck throu gh a 3 foot 6.5 inch gap opening between two bridge plates at an elevation of mo re than 13 feet above the rail road tracks. Employee #1 fell and struck the trac ks and sustained head trauma and multiple body fractures, killing him.
