At 11:00 a.m. on July 30, 2005, Employee #1 was painting the connection between a steel column and a steel beam next to a second-floor ceiling. While walking backward from the column to the guardrail, he fell 15 ft to the ground. Employee #1 was hospitalized at the Northridge Hospital for three fractured ribs and a shoulder injury. A witness indicated that Employee #1 lost his balance when the top member of the guardrail came off.
