On February 7, 1997, Employee #1, of Continental Labor Resources, Inc., was working for Ken Small Construction, Inc., at the Mobil Oil Company facility in Lost Hills, CA. He was part of a crew moving a 60 ft long by 8 in. diameter pipe that was mounted on the left rear corner of an A-frame truck and which extended 25 ft out from the end of the bed. The truck entered a low area and the pipe shifted, striking Employee #1 on the hip. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield, where he was treated in the Emergency Room and released. The pipe had not been secured to the bed of the truck.
