While doing framing work, Employee #1, of Atelier M/A, cut a 2 by 4 with a portable Skilsaw. The saw guard was operational, not pinned or wedged back. The 2 by 4 had a knot in it, and the saw kicked back and severed the employee's left forearm. The employee then pulled his arm back so hard that he slammed it into the structure, fracturing the arm.
