Employee #1 was felling second growth alder, fir, and hemlock on Georgia Pacific land near the Wild Cat Bridge in the Silety Gorge. His partner was working on his strip and could see Employee #1 felling a tree. The partner looked away, but when he looked back, could not see him. He ran to Employee #1's location and found him unconscious. Apparently, he had been struck by a snag. Employee #1 was transported to Newport Pacific Community Hospital and then transferred to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene for observation of a head injury.
