At approximately 1:00 p.m. on November 29, 1995, Employee #1, a carpenter for Gillis Gilkerson, Inc., was using a Porter Cable 7 1/4 in. heavy duty circular saw with a carbide blade to cut a 1 in. strip of wood from a 44 by 44 1/2 by 5/8 piece of plywood. According to Employee #1, he was moving the saw with his left hand and holding the edge of the plywood with his right hand when he sawed off his four right fingers. He was taken by ambulance to PGMH, where his index and middle fingers were reattached. His little and ring fingers could not be saved. | |||||||
