Employee #1 contracted with the company to cut timber. He went into the timber area and began "half cutting," which means to saw halfway through. He half cut approximately 4 to 5 trees. As he was sawing another tree, a previously "half cut" tree twisted and fell into a second tree, which, in turn, fell and struck him in the chest. Employee #1 was pronounced dead at the scene. Note that Employee #1 should be considered a subcontractor.
