At 10:45 a.m. on August 25, 2021, an employee, the owner of the company, was per forming logging operations. The employee had cleared out a section of trees howe ver, there was one tree that had been recently cut that was tangled in vines and did not fall. The employee continued to cut trees and was cutting a hickory tre e when the saw became stuck. The employee tried to drive a wedge into the tree w ith a hammer to free the saw. As the employee was doing this, the tangled tree broke free from the vines and fell onto him striking him from behind. The cowork er who was operating the skidder saw the tree hit the employee and ran over to h im. The coworker cut the tree off the employee and he and another coworker, who was onsite, drove him to the nearest hospital. The employee was alert during thi s time however at the hospital he was life-flighted to another hospital, where h e died enroute.
