At 4:00 a.m. on May 27, 2020, Employee # 1 was working as the night boiler opera tor. The boiler is fed by a series of augers that move woodchips to the boiler from a silo that stores the woodchips. Employee # 1 had entered inside the silo to move the w oodchips to the center of the auger using a shovel, where they would drop down a nd be fed towards the boiler. While inside the woodchip silo, the sweeping auger was still spinning. Employee # 1 was caught by the spinning auger and was fed t hrough several augers. He suffered fatal injuries and was killed.
