At approximately 4:30 a.m. on November 17, 2001, Employee #1, a mechanic for Omni Facility Services, a mechanical maintenance contractor for FedEx, was at his desk when three FedEx coworkers called him by radio. They requested his help in releasing a J-Can that was stuck inside a truck at the loading site behind the FedEx building. To free the can, two FedEx coworkers positioned themselves inside the truck at the front and Employee #1 and another FedEx coworker were at the rear. When the J-Can was released, it suddenly started to roll backward. Employee #1 attempted to control the can but it rolled onto his right foot, fracturing several bones. He was transported to Robert Kennedy Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. | |||||||
