The employee had been using a plastic spatula/scrapper type tool to assist in removing all moistened product and reached down an approximate 8 inch diameter pipe into the rotary valve area, which is a series of approximate 2-3 inch blades that rotate/spin on a shaft to continue movement of the product to the air line system. The employee removed some wet material that was clogging the piping system and contacted the rotary blades, amputating his left ring and middle fingertips. The employee was hospitalized.
