At 6:30 p.m. on April 9, 2019, an employee was performing cleaning and sanitatio n on a potato peeling machine that was not powered off. The employee walked to t he back side of the machine where there was an unguarded chain and gears. The em ployee was attempting to clean the gears, when his hand was caught between the c hain and gears. The employee was hospitalized and suffered amputation of all fiv e fingers on his left hand.
