At 10:23 a.m. on March 12, 2019, an employee and his supervisor, day laborers, w ere staging a home with furniture for an open house. The employee was in the pr ocess of moving an umbrella stand, which was on a handtruck, at the time of the accident. The employee was discussing with his supervisor whether to lay the han dtruck down on the ground or leave it standing up. The supervisor said he wante d the handstruck standing though the employee said he wanted to lay it down. As the employee lowered the handtruck to the ground against his supervisor's instr uctions, his right thumb was caught between the umbrella stand and the handtruck . The employee was hospitalized where he sustained a near complete amputation of the right thumb.
