At 11:45 a.m. on February 6, 2019, Employee #1 was helping a coworker with the r emoval of the PRIMA Surgical Light assembly from the ceiling. was relieving the spring tension on the lower suspension arm with both hands. His left hand was p ositioned on the hinge with his ring finger inside, while his right hand was pos itioned on the lower suspension arm brace. Employee #1 was supporting the lower suspension arm of the surgical light (PRIMA Surgical Light), while the coworker unscrewed the upper supporting arm attachment screws out of the sleeve. When th e attachment came apart, the under tension spring supporting the actuating arm c ame closed on Employee #1's left ring finger that was inside the hinge. Employee #1 sustained an amputation of the left ring finger and was hospitalized.
