At 11:45 a.m. on February 6, 2019, Employee #1 was helping a coworker with the removal of the PRIMA Surgical Light assembly from the ceiling. was relieving the spring tension on the lower suspension arm with both hands. His left hand was positioned on the hinge with his ring finger inside, while his right hand was positioned on the lower suspension arm brace. Employee #1 was supporting the lower suspension arm of the surgical light (PRIMA Surgical Light), while the coworker unscrewed the upper supporting arm attachment screws out of the sleeve. When the attachment came apart, the under tension spring supporting the actuating arm came closed on Employee #1's left ring finger that was inside the hinge. Employee #1 sustained an amputation of the left ring finger and was hospitalized. | |||||||
