At 2:45 p.m. on July 10, 2018, an employee was trying to determine the compatibility of a lower guard for a pair of pneumatic wire cutters. The employee removed the top guard from a pair of Simonds wire cutters, Model PTX-938, due to it not being compatible with the newly designed lower guard. The employee operated the cutters and amputated his right hand's middle fingertip. The employee was hospitalized.
