At 6:30 p.m. on August 27, 2018, Employee #1 was transporting vehicles on a six car auto-carrier to and from the auto dealership lots. The employees load the ve hicles onto the auto-carrier and secure them from the ground level or from fixed ladders on the sides of the trailer, with a combination of independent straps a nd chains attached to the trailer. The straps used have a 3,500 pound strength and are typically purchased by the employees, who are free to purchase any brand meeting strength requirements. Employee #1 was securing the middle vehicle by r atcheting a strap over the tire from the fifth rung of the middle fixed ladder o n the passenger side of the trailer, when the strap broke. He fell approximatel y five feet to the parking lot surface, where he sustained a possible concussion , multiple sprains and contusions. Emergency services were called, and he was ho spitalized for two days.
