At 1:00 p.m. on March 8, 2018, Employee #1 and a coworker, employed by a roofing company, were working at a multiemployer construction project, a commercial building. Employee #1 was operating a DeWalt Circular Saw with a 24-tooth blade (Model DWE575, Serial Number 741633). He was rip cutting a 2 by 4 plank of lumber. The coworker was assisting. Employee #1's left hand made contact with the saw blade. Emergency services were called, and Employee #1 was transported to the hospital. He was admitted and treated for a laceration to his hand and amputation of his pinky finger. The finger was surgically reattached.
