At 6:45 a.m. on May 21, 2018, an employee was assisting a coworker with his PopUp saw when it was operating slowly. The employee sprayed contact cleaner on the switch that controlled the saw's foot pedal and went to test it. The employee had placed his right hand on the machine's frame, pressed the foot pedal, and the saw blade rose up, lacerating his middle finger and partially amputating his ring finger and pinky. The employee was hospitalized.
