At 4:00 p.m. on October 27, 2017, an employee was pushing half of a beef carcass off the main trolley line onto a side rail called the trim rail and had to cros s a manual switch to move from the maim rail to the side rail. As the trolley s witched over, the switch malfunctioned and did not close completely. This cause d the carcass to roll back and fall, striking the employee on the hardhat and fr acturing his neck. The employee was hospitalized and had surgery to install a s crew at the C1 vertebra.
