29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: Rust-Oleum Corporation, at 715 Park North Boulevard, Clarkston, GA - on or about February 10, 2014, where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials at the ammonium hydroxide dispensing area and the paint mixing area, the employer did not provide suitable facilities for flushing of the eyes and body. (a) In the Dispensing Area to the exterior of the building, behind the main production area, where employees transferred ammonium hydroxide via hand pump from 55-gallon drums to 5-gallon buckets, the emergency eyewash station was empty, and there was no emergency shower. (b) In the Mixing Area, 5-gallon buckets of ammonium hydroxide were poured into paint mixers on the mezzanine level, there was no emergency eyewash station in the immediate area, and the nearest eyewash was missing one bottle, and there was no emergency shower. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
