Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.651(f): A warning system such as barricades, hand or mechanical signals, or stop logs was not utilized when mobile equipment was operated adjacent to an excavation, when such equipment was required to approach the edge of an excavation. Coast Guard Housing Area, Lifesaver Drive; on or about 24 June 2013 and times prior thereto; the employer did not provide a warning system for Deere 120C excavator operating at the edge of an excavation. Employees were working in the bottom of the trench at the edge of the excavation. No barrier, mechanical stops or verbal communication were established. This condition exposed employees to struck-by hazard.
