Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards: (a) Oilfield north of Kevin, MT: On or about June 20, 2013 and at times prior, employees were exposed to struck by hazards while using a shop fabricated "Wheel Wrench" to apply torque to drilling sucker-rods while servicing an oil well. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatements to correct the hazard include, but are not limited to: 1. Establish an effective Job Hazard Assessment for the use of a rod wheel wrench. 2. Require that two employees use the rod wheel wrench when applying torque to vertical sucker-rods in wells. 3. Close the entrance of the rod wheel wrench before applying torque. 4. Use a manufactured tool that was designed for the job such as a wheel-type safety rod wrench.
