Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 006 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.138(a): General requirements. Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. On or about June 11, 2013 and times prior thereto, employees of Reliance Well Service, Inc. performed the service of casing replacement on brine well #64 with the use of workover rig#906 at or near latitude coordinate North 33.17065 and longitude coordinate West 93.06277 in Magnolia, Arkansas. The employer had not required the use of appropriate hand protection to protect employee's hands from injuries to hands such as but not limited to cuts and punctures. Employees were also exposed to injuries to other body parts from struck-by hazards in the event pipe and other objects covered in oil and gas were handled by employees without the use of hand protection to prevent slipping.
