Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 010 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1060(a): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee using ladders and stairways, as necessary, which would enable each employee to recognize hazards related to ladders and stairways and train each employee in the procedures to be followed to minimize these hazards: a- 50 Sidney Avenue, Deal NJ: Workers used aluminum extension ladders to access the work areas approximately 22 feet 2 inches to the ground surface below. Multiple rungs on the ladders were bent/damaged and each of the worksite extension ladders were missing feet. As such, the damaged ladders exposed workers to fall hazards. Condition observed on or about 05/30/13. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
