29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(15): Ladders were not inspected by a competent person for visible defects on a periodic basis and after an occurrence that could affect their safe use: a- 50 Sidney Avenue, Deal NJ: Workers used aluminum extension ladders to access the work areas approximately 22 feet 2 inches to the ground surface below. Multiple rungs on the ladders were bent/damaged and each of the worksite extension ladders were missing feet. As such, the damaged ladders exposed workers to fall hazards. Condition observed on or about 05/30/13. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
