Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.133(a)(2): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses eye protection that provides side protection when there is a hazard from flying objects. Detachable side protectors (e.g. clip-on or slide-on side shields) meeting the pertinent requirements of this section are acceptable. On or about August 8, 2012, in the Commerical Machine Department, an machinist employee was exposed to flying metal chips due to the lack of side protection on his safety glasses while drilling holes in a metal plate on a De Vlieg milling machine.
