Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.119(j)(2): The employer did not establish or implement written procedures to maintain the on-going integrity of process equipment: 402 Commerce Street, York, NE 68467 (Site-Wide): The employer did not establish or implement written procedures to maintain the on-going integrity of process equipment, including but not limited to; testing internal pipe thickness. No procedures had been developed in order to test the internal corrosion rate on pipe in the ammonia system. A recognized and generally accepted good engineering practice from the IIAR (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration) Bulletin 110 states that deeper pitting of metal, where considered by subjective assessment to be greater than 10% of original wall thickness should be checked accurately by using techniques such as ultrasonic measurements. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed.
