Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards where a packer was not equipped with a roll over protective system: (a) On or about June 18, 2012, for the employee that was killed when the BROS SP 10000 rubber-tired packer rolled over and crushed him on the east edge of SD Highway 73, Usta, SD. NOTE: One feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to install a roll over protective system in accordance with the specifications established by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) under its specification SAE J1040b (1977) for new equipment manufacturing and old equipment retrofitting to protect employees on compactors.
